Why are you doing what you’re doing now, if you don’t have a purpose?
Purpose can be likened to going on a road trip. We often waste precious time following different routes that lead to nowhere because we don’t have a sense of where we want to go. A higher purpose therefore serves as the map needed to reach your life’s destination.
A purpose is the foundation on which life is built. It gives you direction in life – it acts as a compass. It always directs you towards your true North. It informs key life decisions and assists you to resolve ethical dilemmas. Higher purpose helps you to clarify priorities and maximise opportunities, time and effort. A higher purpose also assists you to transcend adversity and conflict as it shifts your focus from navel-gazing to seeing the bigger picture.
A life purpose should not be confused with your profession. Even though a higher purpose can assist you to select a career or profession, it goes beyond your profession. Ideally there should be an alignment, so that you can harness the synergy between your purpose and profession. Work then becomes more effortless because you are doing what inspires you.

Discovering your life purpose is a process that requires introspection and self-awareness. However, when you eventually uncover your purpose, it will provide deep meaning and the inspiration to transform your life.
